Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Botany, Microbiology, Plant
Pathology, Biotechnology, Agriculture, or a related field
- Basic
knowledge of plant diseases and plant–pathogen
interactions
- Familiarity
with laboratory safety practices and proper handling of biological
materials
- Basic
experience in molecular biology techniques, such as: DNA extraction, PCR
and gel electrophoresis, Sample preparation and labeling
- Knowledge of
pathogen isolation and identification (fungal, bacterial, or
viral)
- Ability to
assist in field sampling of diseased tobacco plants
- Detail-oriented, organized, and responsible
- Willing to
learn new techniques
- Physically
fit for fieldwork
in agricultural areas
- Good
communication and time-management skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the collection of diseased and healthy tobacco plant
samples from field sites in
Gitagum, Misamis
Oriental
- Properly label, document, and transport samples to
the laboratory
- Record field observations, including disease symptoms, location, and environmental
conditions
- Assist in pathogen isolation and culture following standard laboratory
protocols
- Perform DNA extraction, PCR amplification, and gel
electrophoresi
- Assist in data organization, preliminary analysis, and
documentation
- Assist in the evaluation
of disease control strategies,
including cultural, biological, or chemical methods
- Support greenhouse or field
trials, if
applicable
- Monitor disease progression and record
treatment responses
