Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree graduate in Metallurgical Engineering,
Materials Engineering, or other closely related science or engineering
fields.
- Fresh
graduates are encouraged to apply, particularly those planning to pursue a
Master’s degree (MS) related to materials or metallurgy after project
completion.
- Must possess
knowledge of mineral processing principles, including particle size
analysis, grinding/sizing, and flotation, is an advantage.
- Familiarity
with laboratory equipment and procedures, including sieving, sample
preparation, slurry handling, and basic chemical handling.
- Skills in
data recording, tabulation, and simple data analysis (e.g., Excel or
equivalent).
- Good written
and oral communication skills for technical reporting and
documentation.
- Highly
motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as
in a research environment.
- Willing to
work on a full-time, project-based basis for the full 10-month
duration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct the
preparation, characterization, and beneficiation of silica sand samples,
including drying, crushing, grinding, and laboratory-scale sizing/sieving
operations.
- Execute the
laboratory-scale reverse flotation experiments aimed at producing
high-purity quartz.
- Prepare
flotation reagents, solutions, and consumables following prescribed
concentrations and laboratory safety guidelines.
- Conduct
routine laboratory measurements, including particle size distribution, mass
recovery, and basic material balance calculations.
- Ensure proper
sample labeling, documentation, storage, and inventory management for
traceability of experimental work.
- Accurately
record experimental parameters, observations, and results in laboratory
notebooks and digital records.
- Conduct the
preliminary data processing, tabulation, graphing, and interpretation of
experimental results under the supervision of the Project
Leader.
- Perform the
preparation, organization, and submission of administrative documents,
including procurement requests for chemicals, consumables, and laboratory
supplies.
- Coordinate
with the Project Leader and concerned offices regarding procurement
tracking, delivery follow-ups, and documentation compliance.
- Compile and
organize project files, including technical reports, progress reports,
meeting minutes, and supporting documents required by the funding and
monitoring agencies.
- Schedule and
prepare materials for monitoring visits, meetings, and presentations
related to the project.
- Ensure
compliance with laboratory safety regulations, waste disposal procedures,
and equipment use policies.
- Perform other
research and administrative tasks as may be assigned by the Project Leader
in support of the project objectives.
