The College of Computer Studies (CCS), through its MyICT Extension Project, successfully conducted the second session of its ICT training program with the workshop “Getting Started with Canva Websites”. Held at the CCS laboratories on October 18, 2025, the session gathered 20 enthusiastic youth participants eager to explore the fundamentals of website creation using Canva.
The training-workshop introduced participants to essential website design concepts such as layout structuring, adding interactive elements, customizing visual components, and publishing simple websites. Facilitators provided step-by-step guidance, ensuring that learners gained confidence in building their own creative outputs. The hands-on format encouraged collaboration, peer learning, and creativity—core values aligned with MyICT’s mission of empowering marginalized and out-of-school youth through technology.
In her opening remarks, Project Lead Asst. Prof. Jerina Jean Ecleo highlighted the importance of accessible digital skills in expanding opportunities for the youth. Following the opening, Asst. Prof. Maria Camilla Ann Llamas-Jalova, who facilitated the main session, walked the participants through the Canva website builder, while Yohann Dalisay, a JITS officer volunteer, led the exploration of additional Canva functions and features.

During the workshop, the youth participants were grouped and tasked to create their own Canva websites based on the concepts discussed. Each group collaborated to design layouts, incorporate multimedia elements, and refine their content, allowing them to apply their newly learned skills creatively and practically. After the hands-on activity were group presentations of website outputs, showcasing a variety of themes and designs that reflect each group’s teamwork and creativity.
To recognize outstanding work, an award was given to the group that produced the most well-designed and cohesive website, adding excitement and motivation to the participants.
The activity achieved its objective of enhancing ICT literacy, nurturing creativity, and fostering digital awareness—further supporting MyICT’s overarching goal of bridging the digital divide and promoting inclusive access to technology. With the success of the second session, MyICT continues to inspire the youth to pursue further learning and opportunities in the digital and creative fields.
