Anchored on the theme, “Excellence in Service: Shaping the Filipino Learner,” the College of Education (CED) honors 405 pre-service teachers during the 23rd Pinning and Moving-Up Ceremony on January 14, 2026, at the Gymnasium, marking a new step for student-teachers toward becoming professional teachers. Prof. Amelia T. Buan, CED Dean, presented the pre-service teachers who were confirmed by Prof. Pamela F. Resurreccion, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The student-teachers will be deployed to various public elementary and secondary schools in Iligan City.
Also attending the special occasion was College of Science and Mathematics Dean Prof. Mylene M. Uy, the event’s guest speaker, as well as CED’s department chairpersons, faculty members, staff, students, guests, and parents.

Following the confirmation was the pinning ceremony where students stood proudly as they received their internship pins from their parents.
Prof. Uy, the 2025 Metrobank Outstanding Filipino awardee, shared her personal commitments that reflected the event’s theme, “Excellence in Service: teach with purpose, lead with integrity, and serve with commitment.” She emphasized that the teaching profession is an act of service to the country; the second commitment highlighted the importance of trust and fairness in one’s work, while the third recognized patience and resilience as essential attributes in the profession.
“Today’s pinning and moving-up ceremony is not merely an academic milestone. It is a moment when society begins to entrust you with something sacred– the minds, character, and dreams of Filipino children. The pin you received today is small, but carries a great weight: the weight of service, trust, and national responsibility,” said Prof. Uy.

Part of the ceremonies were the Teacher’s Pledge and the Teachers’ Prayer, delivered by student-teachers Arren Jean Jacalan and Caryl P. Bastistiana, respectively. The Words of Challenge for the elementary level was delivered by Princess Khanaisah M. Ampatua of Iligan City North Central School and accepted by Eurayle Kyrie B. Abad, a BEED Language Education student. Meanwhile, the Words of Challenge for the secondary level was delivered by Alfred CJ G. Magno of the Integrated Developmental School and was accepted by Jay Ann B. Singson, a BSED Mathematics student.
The program ended with a meaningful tribute to the parents and a closing remark from Asst. Prof. Victor Rosales of the Department of Technology Teacher Education.
